There are no pictures showing the storage area. Is the top hinged to open? or just lifts off. Would like more details, pictures.

  Sorry for any confusion caused by the images--but you are absolutely correct, the top is hinged to open, and the interior of the unit is a large storage space. The top does not fully lift off; even when open, the top is connected.
