Savvy Home Store Scholarship

Savvy Home Store, a retail company specializing in high quality custom sofas, recliners, sleeper sofas and more, announces a bi-annual scholarship program awarding one $600 scholarship to the student whose application materials best display a dedication to and strong interest in interior design or related field of study.

Our first scholarship contest is open to US citizens and international students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited US institution. Entrants are challenged to submit a one-page, typed personal statement (no more than 1000 words) that explains why they’ve chosen their particular area of study. Entries must also include 5 original interior layouts and/or furniture designs in PDF. Along with these requirements, all applications must also include a fully-completed scholarship entry form.

Scholarship criteria for inquiring participants:

Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited US college or university
Considered in academic “Good Standing” at their current institution (i.e. not facing suspension or under academic probation)
Studying interior design or other related field
Required minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher

Submission details:

Please provide the following:

A typed, 1000-word personal statement in a legible font (Times New Roman, Arial, or other commonly used font; 12pt) with your full name, home address, email address and phone number clearly printed at the top.
Printed, official transcript or statement of GPA from your school.
Completed scholarship entry form.
(Optional, recommended) A list of any awards or honors you have received, along with any relevant internship or volunteer activities. Please provide a brief explanation (1-2 sentences) for each.

Scholarship deadline:

All entries must be postmarked by April 10th, 2015.

No other additional documents or forms (letters of recommendation, etc.) are required. Entries must be submitted via US mail to the mailing address below. Any entry received via email or fax will not be accepted.

Further information to consider:

Students may only submit one entry per scholarship period.
A transcript or statement of GPA from your school must be included with the personal statement.
While students in any related field of study will be considered, those who are interested in pursuing a career in interior design are encouraged to apply.

Selection process:

Once entries are received, they will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of managing staff members of Savvy Home Store. The decision of the panel will be based on which student’s personal essay and designs best exemplify a strong talent and bright future in interior design or related field.

The winning student will be selected and notified by May 10th, 2015 for the Spring semester. The winner will be awarded a $600 scholarship.
